The City of Claremore is located in Northeastern Oklahoma just minutes from Tulsa. Our community is progressive and growing with a strong economy and small town atmosphere. The city limits cover approximately 15 square miles and has a population of approximately 17,000. Our community is home to the famed Will Rogers Memorial which has an extensive collection of Will Rogers memorabilia and is the site of his burial. We also have the J.M. Davis Gun Museum which houses one of the world’s largest collections of firearms. Rogers State University, a four year college named after Will Rogers is rapidly growing and active within our community. Our city has many antique shops and sites of interest nearby such as the birth place of Will Rogers just nine miles away, a state of the art recreation center, Expo Center and other excellent facilities for activities. With activity opportunity just minutes away at both Lake Claremore and Lake Oologah the choices for activities are boundless.

The Claremore Police Department currently is approved for 38 sworn officers, 13 civilian and 2 to 3 animal control employees. The police department is community policing orientated and is dedicated to working with the community to make the City of Claremore an even better place to live. In 2004 the Claremore Police Department became only the sixth municipal police agency in the State of Oklahoma to achieve the status of “accreditation” by the Oklahoma Association of Chief’s of Police. Our department is proud of this accomplishment. Accreditation means that our department successfully met the professional standards required in order to be awarded accreditation by the State of Oklahoma. This accomplishment was a team effort and took a lot of commitment and hard work by every member of our department.

The Claremore Police Department has a summer bicycle patrol program, a citizen’s academy program and numerous community outreach programs. Funded by a Department of Justice grant, we currently have one school resource officer assigned to Claremore Public School campuses. We have a drug detecting K-9, neighborhood watch programs, senior citizen programs, home and business safety programs. It is our goal to strengthen our relationship and grow a partnership with the citizens of our city to combat and prevent crime. Our department’s belief is that together we CAN make a difference!
